Summer Holidays: Diaper Shopping Guide

Submitted by admin on July 25, 2007 – 11:42 am11 Comments

Finally: Summer Holidays! For those of us who can’t enjoy their summer holidays without diapers (or for those of us who have no option to buy them at home), here’s my wordlwide diaper shopping guide. Feel free to add countries which I did not list!

Abu Dhabi: Crinkly rabian and classic european diapers are available at Carrefour.

Argentinia: It’s rather difficult to find diapers in Argentina. Look out for large drug stores.

Austria: in Pharmacies and medical supplies stores.

Brasilia: This country is a DL’s paradise! Diapers are available at any pharmacy and tend to be on display outside. Brazilina diapers are white, cheap and crinkly!

Costa Rica: Buying diapers is largely uncomplicated, but they are only availbable in Pharmacies. They still sell old Depends which are white and very crinkly.

Dubai: Carrefour sells arabian and european diapers. The pharmacy in the Center of the Emirates has a collection of very thick diapers.

France: You can easily buy them at Champion, Casino, Carrefour, Intermarché, Leclerc & Super U. They also offer Drynites. Tena diapers are known as Tena Orlys.

Germany: Pharmacies usually stock diapers; you can order any diaper brand and it will be ready for pick up within 4-12 hours. Some Kaufland supermarkets sell Riboslip and Rogges diapers. Pants are available at any Schlecker, DM or Müller drugstore. Sometimes medical supplies stores offer a choice of diapers.

Italiy: Some large supermarkets offer Beesana diapers and Drynites.

Japan: You will be amazed by what the future looks like when you try Japanese diapers. Availalbe at big supermarkets such as Ito Yokado; Seyu only sells pants.

Luxemburg: Just go to France…

Namibia: Pharmcies sell Depends und Tena.

Poland: Large supermarkets such as real sell Seni diapers for EUR 4.

Spanien: Available only in big pharmacies.

Schweiz: Migros MMM und MM sell Molicare diapers under a different name. Drynites are are also available.

Sri Lanka: Diapers can only be found in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo at some supermarkets and drugstores.

South Africa: Pharmacies usually sell Depends.

Thailand: Pharmacies often display diapers. We recommend local no-name products as they are amazingly soft and ideal for tropical conditions.

Turkey: Usually at pharmacies. Some even have them on display!

UK: Tesco and Boots sell Drynites.

USA: Large supermarkets and drugstores such as WalMart, KMART, or Wallgreens sell Depedns with three tapes on each side! We recommend looking for smaller drugstores which sometimes sell amazingly thick Attends with three tapes.

A lot of countries are still missing. Comments are open!

Hi can you tell me if you can easily get Tena Slip Maxi Medium in Rome (Italy)?

I will be staying around termini and don’t want to drag my nappies all the way there from Australia.

    In Australia:

Nappyland outlets usually carry Tena Slip Maxi (and Super) in medium and large along with a few other assorted brands.

They have stores in Victoria (around the outer suburbs of Melbourne and one in Geelong) along with South Australia and Queensland.

They do deliver with no hassles.

Independence Solutions (Mediquip) has pretty much every type of nappy/diaper but the staff don’t seem to know much about what’s what. If you know what you want they are easy to deal with if you pay UPFRONT rather than worrying about creating an account (which they seem happy to do.)

Pharmacies can also order in pretty much whatever you would like but usually only carry Depends (the cheaper ones.)

Supermarkets are starting to carry Tena pants and also have carried the cheaper Depends for a longtime but I would suggest you avoid them except in case of emergency.
