The dentists’ concern was with the many problems they had to deal with: deformations or caries.  They developed a baby comforter that resembled a mothers’s breast. They used some of the most advanced materials at that time (soft latex), and got a patent for it in 1959.

Pacifiers were a bit success in the years to come. There is also a range of adult-sized pacifiers, consisting of a standard baby pacifier guard but a larger, wider nipple, are used by people who snore or by members of the AB community. The nipples are often referred to as NUK5s, after the NUK brand of baby pacifiers manufactured by the German company MAPA Gmbh. They are sold under the name NUK Medicpro L or NUK Size 5.

It’s a lot of fun to wear such a cute diaper. It makes you feel baby-ish and sweet.

A liner is some kind of oversized napkin that people wear in their underwear or with a pair of specially desgined fixation pants. A liner can hold almost as much as a diaper, but is more discreet to wear and can be changed much easier because it does not have any tapes on the side.

The new liner is called Abri San and has all the features of a normal liner – plus some extra high an strong barriers on each side. These barriers are designed do a better job at withholding.

But will they really prevent leaks? I really doubt that… A well-fitted diaper might be a much safer – and cleaner – solution.

Does this mean we just need to travel to a totally different country or culture in order to experience how it feels what it’s like to be a baby?

In case you’ve come to the same conclusion as I have that there aren’t really any thick disposable diapers in Amercian supermarkets or drug stores, there’s a sign of relief – in China. The chinese version of Depends are twice as thick, a lot more crinkly and can hold at least three good wettings. In fact, the big logo with some extra thick plastic to refasten the diaper easily reminds me more of Tena diapers than of the original Depends (the chinese version also has two tapes on each side and not three as in the US).

On the left hand side you can see a close up of the Chinese Depends. Just like the US version, they come in two sizes: S/M and L (pictured). They’re actually more like a normal Medium diaper (pictured above) and they are only slighty larger.

I tested these diapers with my girlfriend in Shanghai, and at the same time we quite enjoyed the view from the Hyatt!
